Linkonlearning - Online private school
2002 - 2005
I moved to Ontario from British Columbia in July of 2002 to
work for Linkonlearning. I had spent a considerable amount
of time in 2000 - 2002 developing for Web Applications, and
Linkonlearning was the next step in complexity. It utilizes C# .NET, XML and Flash MX to deliver dynamic content. I developed the graphics and overall appearance for all aspects of Linkonlearning's web site and administrative tools.
I created the web pages and edited / provided copy for and helped build the Flash website. I worked with a Flash programmer to build the animations and multilayered responsiveness in it. I then worked with a team to build the administrative area where parents and teachers monitored the students progress.
Once that was complete I
ported the content out of XML / Flash and built the HTML website. Since then
I have been working for the last year and a half on Linkonlearning's newest
public, classroom, educator, parent and administration areas.
During this time I have produced:
· Single page ads / Brochures
· PDF toolkits for teachers and parents
· Manuals for Linkonlearning's website and tools
· Business plans and proposals (with a team)
· MS PowerPoint presentations
· MS Visio Diagrams
· E-mail promotions
· Press Releases
· CD promotions
· Mockups for job bids
I work extensively with the Chief Technology Officer to maintain the Domain. He comes from a Mainframe background and has a very sophisticated understanding of systems architecture. I have learned a substantial amount under his tutelage.
Software I work with includes :
· MS Windows 2000 Server
· IIS Web Servers on MS Windows 2000 / 2003 Servers
· MS ISA Server, DNS, and TCP/IP setup for IIS
· MS Exchange Server
· MS SQL Server
· MS Visual SourceSafe / Visual Studio
Hardware I work with includes :
· Domain Controller
· Web Servers
· Workstations
· Print and Fax Servers
· Backup Servers
· switches, routers, hubs and cabling
From late 2002 to mid 2004 I provided technical support for clients via
email and phone. In early 2003 I was responsible for a team of sound and
content editors. They created content that conformed to Ontario Educational
Curriculum. I oversaw their tasks and generated / edited data myself.

2002 - Internet Mapping Help System
This page relies on a combination of Javascript, CSS, and HTML to present
information dynamically depending on user input. The help recipient simply
chooses the button that gives them problem, and a description pops up
in the text box. Underneath this text box, the button will take them to
their area of interest in the more detailed help documentation. The map
function button also features a dropdown menu that allows for information
on the more specific tool functionality it provides.
This product is also scalable. The clients of the internet maps this serves
as a help for often require proprietary tools for their map, and these
are easily added or removed from the help system, making it highly customizable.
Core
Services Review
2002 - Web-based Project Management Software
At TransitionalMedia, I worked with a local consulting firm on this project.
The product is a system of accountability for project managers in the
upper echelons of the British Columbia Government. It will allow easy
monitoring of the success of the ministries undertakings.
This product is not accessible to the public.
Adaptive
Management Trainer
2002 - CD Trainer for British Columbia Ministry of Forests
This product is used by the Ministry of Forests to teach students, forestry
managers and scientists to utilize software that emulates forest management
decisions and then provides hypothetical results. I built the majority
of this product.
This product is currently only accessible by the Ministry of Forests.
Forest
Health for Silviculture Surveyors
2001 - Online Course for British Columbia Ministry of Forests
This project I developed as part of a team with Latitude Geographics and
TransitionalMedia. We developed a training course for Forest Health for
Silviculture Surveyors. This course is designed to aid students in preparing
for their Silviculture Surveyors accreditation process. It delivers information
which replicates classroom sessions and prepares students for their accreditation
exam. Our course helps the Ministry deliver more efficient and cost effective
training. I built the majority of this product.
This product is currently only accessible by the Ministry of Forests.

BC Hydro Surveyor Training Site
2001 - Educational Site
Bathymetry.ca was a product I developed with Latitude Geographics. It
is an educational website developed for BC
Hydro. It serves as a reference for bathymetric lake mapping,
a process where GPS (global positioning system) and related technologies
are used to map the bottom of lakes. While Latitude developed the content
for the site I formatted and compressed images and laid out the information
in an easy to follow manner.
I had been working with Latitude for some time creating mastheads, buttons,
and other images for their Internet Mapping products by this time. Bathymetry.ca
was my first chance to develop the structure of an educational site, and
I am quite pleased with the results. The site is easily navigable both
through dropdown and side navigation, and all of the pages are coherently
updatable through a template and a series of library items.

1999 - 2000 - Tourist Information Resource
I worked on VancouverIsland.com in 1999. It was the first mega-project
I ever worked on. I created over 450 pages and filled them with content.
This was my first experience using many of the advanced features in Macromedia
Dreamweaver. VancouverIsland.com is a huge site with thousands of different
pages in many different categories.
I created many advertising banners for clients of this site. In addition
to that I did high resolution slide scanning with color correction and
image repair on the hundreds of phenomenal images in the photo gallery
and throughout the site. This was also the first database I ever worked
on. I worked on VancouverIsland.com for a year, and during this time it
grew from a concept into the amazing resource you see today.

2000 - Tourist Information Resource
BritishColumbia.com is the offspring of VancouverIsland.com. This site
uses sophisticated database integration to draw content from a vast pool
of information. I transferred static content to a database and creating
Active Server Pages to call the information, formatted and color corrected
pictures, made graphics for special events, and created banner ads for
advertising by clients.
